Overview

How the same monitor runs outside an Inspect eval: for agents that run their own tool loop, and in a proxy in front of a model API, where the agent cannot bypass it. Covers what each stage sees there, what carries over from an eval and what does not, and writing monitors that travel.

Planned Sections

  • Bridged agents (claude_code, codex): sentinel checks on their tool calls (planned)
  • A proxy in front of a model API: sidecar and embedded modes (planned)
  • What each stage sees under a proxy, and what is lost
  • Portable monitors: context.host, context.store_as(), light imports, portable=False (planned)
  • terminate and reject under a proxy
  • inspect_core: the wire types without the rest of Inspect (planned)
